London’s bubble tea obsession has grown so much in the last few years, that I actually think I was a little late to the bubble tea party.

It was only last summer that my son introduced me to bubble tea when we were out in Camden after visiting the London Zoo.

At first, I found the exploding cherry balls in my passionfruit bubble tea a little weird, but I soon fell in love with many different types of bubble teas!

What Is Bubble Tea?

Bubble tea is so popular among Gen Z, but for many of us a little older, bubble tea may just sound like a fizzy PG Tips! So what is bubble tea exactly?

Bubble tea is a Taiwanese drink recipe that comes in a variety of fruit-flavoured teas or milk-based teas served with ice-cold or piping hot chewy tapioca (“boba” or “pearls”) but it can have other toppings too, such as grass jelly, coconut jelly, even Oreo cookie bits!

If you want to explore the tantalising world of bubble tea or simply need your bubble tea fix, check out the 12 best places to buy it in London.
