It can be a challenge to keep your finger on the pulse of micro-fashion trends flooding in and out of our social media feeds, especially when the same TikTok influencers who inspired you to shop for that ‘must-have’ item suddenly move on to the next within weeks if not days!
But there are fashion trends that have some staying power, or at least, elements of them, and the ones I’ve been loving lately are ‘eclectic grandpa’ and ‘Y2K’.
Over the last few years, we’ve seen these two being re-embraced by the fashion scene, celebrities, and fashion enthusiasts, and if you’re anything like me, you can appreciate the nostalgia they both evoke.
Eclectic Grandpa, the most recent of the two, became popular towards the end of 2023, with Pinterest coining the trend and predicting its popularity in 2024.
It features vintage-inspired fashion pieces like knitted vests, penny loafers, chunky watches, and corduroy trousers.
Then you have Y2K, a bold, futuristic, and often unconventional style that features low-rise jeans, crop tops, mini skirts, platform shoes, metallic fabrics, butterfly clips, oversized sunglasses and dungarees.
So if you want a fashion piece that embodies the timeless appeal of both—corduroy dungarees are the way to go!
Corduroy dungarees are the epitome of retro-cool meets early 2000s charm.
They effortlessly blend the vintage allure of corduroy with the playful and casual style of dungarees—perfect for spring!
Here are 6 of my favourite picks that I found online.
1. Woodland Green Organic Cotton Cord Dungarees from TOAST
Eclectic Grandpa has an emphasis on sustainability, so this 100% organic cotton dungarees would be the perfect fit.
Customer review: “I love these, especially the unusual green colour. The corduroy feels quality, what my mum would describe as elephant cord. Felt a lot to spend but I know I will wear them a lot and I feel good whenever I wear them.”

2. Ash Pink Organic Corduroy Dungarees from Lucy & Yak
These dungarees are available in 11 other colours!
Customer review: “I love everything about them. The colour, the fit, the material. The fact they don’t need frequent washing. I’m wearing leggings under them just now, which means they’ll defs be wearable into Spring too.”
3. Sangria Sunset We The Free High Roller Cord Jumpsuit from Free People
It would be hard not to stand out in this hot pink dungaree!
Customer review: “I would buy this jumpsuit in many other colors it is adorable. Not too heavyweight and very comfy on. Straps are adjustable which is very nice. Only thing is, it is a little bulky in the crotch area but still adorable!”
4. Black Lewes Cord Dungarees from Fat Face
A pair of black dungarees would be easy to mix and match with.
Customer review: “Love everything about these. Fit is perfect, waist slightly higher than average dungarees making the fit more flattering. Really lovely quality cord.”
5. Khaki Green Ella Cord Dungaree from White Stuff
These will pair well with a crop top and chunky trainers for a Spring/Summer Y2K vibe, but due to their autumnal colour, they can easily transition to cooler temperatures with a thick jumper and ankle boots.
Customer review: “These are lovely and soft dungarees. I decided to change the fasteners from the knots to traditional clips which was easily done, as I didn’t think I had the patience to keep unknotting them. Now perfect! I will wear them in the garden as all the pockets will be really useful.”
6. Brown Corduroy Dungarees Loose Fit from Dungarees Online
The classic adjustable buckle straps will ensure a comfortable fit.
Customer review: “Very pleased indeed with this item. I have purchased 2 pairs and both fit perfectly and very comfortable. I highly recommend these. I initially purchased one pair size 18 and one pair size 20 and I found the size 20 was very comfortable for me.”
